Call for raising awareness on art, culture abd architecture of marginalised groups
LAHORE (by Haider Ali): The 5th international conference on ‘Culture, Art and Architecture of the Marginalised and the Poor’ organised by the Trust for History Art and Agriculture of Pakistan (THAAP) in collaboration with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) and Higher Education Commission (HEC), began at THAAP office on Friday.
Scholars, writers, historians, economists, sociologists, artists, town planners, architects and delegates from different countries like Bangladesh, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, India, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States will present 28 papers during the four-day conference.
Two sessions were held on the opening day during which six papers were presented. HEC National Committee for Promotion of Social Sciences Chairperson Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, THAAP Chief Executive Officer Prof Sajida Haider Vandal urged promotion of historic and pictorial view of culture values.
About THAAP, she said that it was an open forum that provided a formal, in-depth and well-focused paper reading sessions, seminars and colloquia. She said that THAAP had various subsets that played a pivotal role in improving the state of education along with promoting socio-economic and cultural development in Pakistan. While Thaap Publications was another segment with an editorial board that works on peer reviewed articles that comes out in the form of Thaap Journal at the end of each year.
